Human Kinetics Moves Its Journals to Atypon’s Literatum

September 13, 2016

Site to Include Enhanced Search, Social Media, Mobile Optimization, and COUNTER-Compliant Reporting

Human Kinetics’ (HK) new journals website has launched on Literatum, Atypon’s online publishing platform. HK’s 29 journals will all benefit from a host of features previously unavailable to HK readers.

“We’re delighted that our new journals website is giving visitors a rewarding onsite researching and reading experience,” said Skip Maier, HK’s CEO, “and that Literatum is giving Human Kinetics the technology and business intelligence we need to continue to grow our business.”

The site’s enhanced search function lets readers drill down into results and refine them by facets such as keyword, article, author, article type, journal category, and publication; built-in social media feeds enable article sharing with just a few clicks. The site will also be optimized for reading on mobile devices—without requiring a separate app.

Literatum provides COUNTER-compliant statistics as well as over 80 standard reports. It also offers citation tracking and opt-in eTOC alerts with onsite promotion.

The migration included integrating Braintree, HK’s new payment processing solution, with Literatum.

“Literatum is engineered to help strengthen online publishing businesses with increased readership, extended site visits, and heightened brand visibility,” said Georgios Papadopoulos, Atypon’s founder and CEO. “All of us at Atypon are looking forward to continuing to provide the business-critical technology that will keep Human Kinetics at the forefront of their discipline.”

Literatum was selected in part for its ability to host videos and books and enable HK to tag, index, target, discount, promote, bundle, and sell them just as they would a journal article.

Human Kinetics joins the Literatum community of over 200 publishers. Prior to Literatum, HK’s journals were on their own, in-house proprietary platform.
