Our favorite two days of the year
Atypon’s Engage User Conferences are an opportunity for publishers to get to know us better in a relaxed, entertaining, and information-filled atmosphere. Held twice yearly—once in North America and once in Europe—they give us a chance to share our new technological advancements, what’s in our development pipeline, and new industry advancements.
Many of our staff are on hand so customers can both spend time with their account teams and meet other Atypon team members. User Conferences also give customers the chance to meet other publishers in the Atypon community and spend time with industry colleagues. After each conference, videos of the day’s presentations and PDFs of the slide decks are shared for on-demand access to the day’s proceedings. They are available to clients in the “User Conference” tab of the Support page.
Program
How-to sessions are interspersed with informal lunch table conversations, case studies, and breakout sessions for leveraging the full complement of Literatum’s features as well as those of new technologies. Customers present real-world use cases, and a speaker from the industry or a related field provides a fresh perspective on a topic of interest to our customers. Each conference is arranged around a theme that ties Literatum’s features and functionality into publishers’ business goals.
Logistics
Engage North America is held in the spring, the day after the Annual Meeting of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP); Engage Europe is held in early December. Both are bookended by dinner and cocktail receptions that provide valuable one-on-one time with staff and publishers.

An Unusual Year
In keeping with the restrictions on gatherings and travel related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have unfortunately had to cancel both Engage 2020 user conferences. We are disappointed to not be able to bring together the Literatum community in-person yet, and miss the value of real face time. We are exploring options for a virtual alternative next year, be it a single event or a series of smaller ones. We will keep you updated!
