LONDON – February 10, 2009: Informa Pharmaceutical Science – a division of Informa Business Information – is launching a new web platform for its 40 highly respected titles, providing readers with a high-tech one-stop-shop for drug discovery and development scientific news and research.
The new Atypon-hosted platform, www.informapharmascience.com, provides access to all Informa Pharmaceutical Science content, including the following key journals: Current Medical Research and Opinion, the Critical Reviews and Expert Opinion series, Drug Metabolism Reviews, Xenobiotica and the Journal of Medical Economics. Amongst the many new features offered by the platform, end users have the option of table of contents alerts, online trials, single article purchase and subscription opportunities.
"Our new site provides an unrivalled one-stop-shop for drug discovery and development content that is efficient and easy to use," explains Phil Garner, Publisher – Pharmaceutical Science at Informa.
"Informa's range of 40 Pharmaceutical Science titles comprehensively covers the drug discovery and R&D pipeline and hosting them on the same site will allow users to access a mine of valuable information easily and quickly, minimising the amount of time needed to conduct online searches," says Phil. "Our high volume of content in key areas such as drug development, pharmacology, drug metabolism, toxicology, and drug delivery will enable our readers to cut out several steps in the search process, saving both time and effort. In addition, the new site will host extra supplementary material such as webcasts, podcasts and alerts."
The new cutting edge online content management and delivery system is being provided by Atypon Systems, Inc. – platform provider for over seventy information providers including JSTOR and the American Chemical Society, and recently chosen as the new platform delivery provider for the New England Journal of Medicine. The Atypon system enables Informa Pharmaceutical Science to integrate the online content of 40 journals with a comprehensive archive service, giving pharma and healthcare professionals one central, high quality source of information spanning the fields of pharmaceutical science and discovery.
"Our flexible technical architecture allows us to deploy functionally rich web sites tailored to the needs of particular information sectors. We are delighted to have delivered a cost-effective solution that addresses the specific needs of pharmaceutical and allied markets for Informa Pharmaceutical Science," says Chris Beckett, Vice President of Sales and Marketing – Atypon Systems.
The changeover will be made as easy and seamless as possible for subscribers, with most of the groundwork being done by Informa in the run up to and during a significant dual-hosting period which will run into April 2009. Clear guidelines of how to register and activate the subscription are being provided to all users.
"This new online service provides users with improved navigation and functionality and is all about bringing together quality information and addressing the needs of our readers with the touch of a button," explains Phil. "Until now, users had to duplicate their searches across the two platforms or miss out on coverage in their interest area because it was published elsewhere. Now, readers will be pointed from one article towards other articles of interest within the www.informapharmascience.com site."
