Cold Spring Harbor, New York and Santa Clara, California – December 8, 2003 – Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press (CSHL Press) and Atypon Systems announced today a partnership that will result in the proceedings of the Cold Spring Harbor Symposia being published online for the first time.

The most highly cited book series in biology, published in print since 1933, these volumes contain the papers delivered at the symposium held each June at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory. The focus of each meeting is on a research topic of major importance and the invited speakers represent the world's leading laboratories in that field. Many exceptional discoveries have been announced to the scientific community on these occasions, including the structure of DNA, the existence of jumping genes and RNA splicing, and the invention of the polymerase chain reaction. The forthcoming title in the series is The Genome of Homo sapiens and recent volumes include The Cardiovascular System, The Ribosome, and Biological Responses to DNA Damage.

As the technology partner for CSHL Press on this project, Atypon will provide the underlying electronic publishing platform for the Symposia's online site.
