Mahwah, NJ and Santa Clara, CA – August 6, 2003 – Lawrence Erlbaum Associates (LEA) announced today that it has chosen Atypon for a partnership to build and host the new Erlbaum Online electronic publishing solution.

LEA is moving all of its journals to Atypon's new Literatum Online platform – a full service information platform for electronic publishing that is a cost-effective solution for publishers of any size. Literatum was first created for publisher solutions such as the Academic Press' IDEAL Library, Blackwell Synergy, and for CrossRef's enhanced reference linking service.

"We want our customers to have the best possible platform from which to access our journals. Our careful search lead us to what we consider the best system – Atypon's," explains Lawrence Erlbaum, President of LEA. "We chose a technology partner that we feel we can rely on to deliver for us for many years to come."

LEA points to several aspects of Atypon's Literatum Online service as being key decision-making factors:

1. An excellent customer service track record which is backed by the industry's highest service level agreements (SLA's)
2. A rich set of features and functionality coupled with a reliable hosting platform
3. A more cost-effective solution from a financially stable partner

"Atypon is looking forward to providing LEA with an online solution that will meet the needs of its entire user community," said Georgios Papadopoulos, Atypon's CEO. "LEA has come to the right place for fast, reliable service and the best technological innovations."

The three year contract engages Atypon for full responsibility for online content production and management, hosting, managed services, hardware and software upgrades, security, and delivery. LEA will also have access to the fruits of Atypon's substantial R&D efforts and thus remain at the forefront of electronic publishing technologies.

"We assessed what our true needs and long term objectives are and found that they included planning for solid growth in our online business," said Joseph Petrowski, Executive Vice President at LEA. "Only by having full control over our content and a deep understanding of how it is used online could we effectively strategize for the future. Atypon's Literatum platform gives us the tools to make these goals a reality."

"Atypon is seeing a shift in the ways publishers view their online hosting needs," explains Ravi Singh, Vice President of Corporate Development. "Many are looking beyond just simply hosting their content and want to utilize technology to build their business and better serve their customers. Atypon has built the tools to allow publishers to do this."
