Georgios Papadopoulos

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Papadopoulos founded Atypon with the mission of becoming the best technology partner for publishers.

Prior to founding Atypon, Papadopoulos developed the software that powered the first digital scholarly journal, Journal of Biological Chemistry; a sophisticated access control system for Rizzoli Publishing (now RCS Media Group); and the first SGML-serving website for the Intel Corporation.

A Fulbright Scholar, Papadopoulos holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and Master and Doctor of Computer Science degrees from New York University.

Gordon Tibbitts

President

Mr. Tibbitts joined Atypon after serving as Chief Executive Officer of Berkeley Electronic Press (bepress).

Prior to Berkeley Electronic Press, Tibbitts served as President of Blackwell Publishing (now Wiley-Blackwell) for seven years, during which time he transformed the company into the world's largest society publisher and spearheaded the development of its digital publishing platform.

Tibbitts has also served as Director of Information Systems for Aster Publishing (later Advanstar) and as a Vice President for the Thomson Corporation. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Oregon.

Hisham Shahtout

Vice President of Engineering

Mr. Shahtout joined Atypon to lead the development of the first release of its digital publishing platform.

Shahtout has more than 15 years of experience in building enterprise software products, including the world's first guaranteed message delivery system as Director of Engineering for Slam Dunk Networks. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering degree from Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Chris Beckett

Vice President of Business Development

Mr. Beckett joined Atypon after co-founding Scholarly Information Strategies, a consultancy that assisted publishers, libraries, and intermediaries in developing and delivering digital products and services.

Beckett has more than 25 years of experience in business development, product development, and marketing. He has worked for Blackwell's Information Services and CatchWord (now Publishing Technology); is a frequent speaker at industry conferences; and is a qualified medical librarian.

Rika Tsitsinia

Vice President of Finance

Ms. Tsitsinia joined Atypon after holding technical and leadership positions at Informix. A Fulbright Scholar, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics degree from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, and a Master of Computer Science degree from New York University.

Kevin Cohn

Director of Client Services

Mr. Cohn joined Atypon after serving as Coordinator of Product Development for Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Statistics degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
